On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 15th IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference. After the successful 2017 edition in Belfort (France), we had the difficult task of maintaining the best scientific and technical level for our conference. This challenge was gladly taken up with a very strong international technical committee and with the most dynamic organizational team. Now, we are deeply convinced you will enjoy your stay in Chicago!
IEEE VPPC has become the flagship conference for advanced vehicles. Specifically, VPPC tackles electric transportation from an advanced technical point of view and this significantly elevates VPPC to a high-level conference with considerable responsibilities. Obviously, we have to design energy efficient systems and to propose new ideas but, moreover, we should train students, develop cost-effective solutions and conscientiously promote green technologies. The IEEE VPPC 2018 Technical Committee has prepared a very strong program for the vehicle power and propulsion community!
This 15th VPPC conference is a very special one. For the first time, the whole Vehicular Technology Society is together. We are very excited to share these few days with our IEEE VTS colleagues and together we can provide you access to two more events: the Vehicular Technology Conference and the Connected and Automated Vehicles Symposium. Moreover, this 2018 edition is co-hosted by Argonne National Laboratory, a world leading lab and world class facility for vehicular power and propulsion and a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center. So, we are certain you will return home energetic with dozens of new ideas for your research team.
To finish, we would like to express our gratitude to all the people involved in this latest VPPC adventure. A successful event happens with tireless efforts of volunteers. These four days of the conference are the outcome of a strong commitment of numerous colleagues: authors, reviewers, organizational and technical committees, track and session chairs, plenary speakers, tutorial instructors, special session organizers, the VPP TechCom and so many others. Special recognition is due to Honorary Chair Prof. CC Chan, VPP TechCom Chair Alain Bouscayrol, TPC Chairs Dominik Karbowsky, Samir Jemei and Sousso Kelouwani, and our tireless VTS support Rodney (Clint) Keele. So, many thanks to those who contributed to this VPPC edition! Their energy and commitment has ensured an exciting and professional event.
